How many types of AC motors are there

Brodally classifying AC motors are of two types:

  1. Synchronous motors: Synchronous motors are those motors in which* the rotation of the shaft is synchronized with the frequency of the supply current
  2. Asynchronous motors: These are the electrical motors whose rotor rotates at the speed lesser than the synchronous speed.
