What is significance of all day efficiency of transformers

All day efficiency of transformers is significant especially for those transformers whose primaries are never open circuited, but the secondaries carry little or no load for most time during the day. While designing those transformers, Electrical Design Engineers are focused to reduce iron losses (since they occur continuously through whole day).

What is all day efficiency of transformers

The ratio of output in kWh to input in kWh of an electrical transformer over a period of 24 hours is technically termed as all-day efficiency.

Mathematical formula for all day efficiency of transformer is:

ηall-day = kWh output in 24 hours/kWh output in 24 hours
